Easy Hummus Recipe

Here is a simple hummus recipe to go with some of our fun book themed recipes, like our Pita Lions! This recipe does not contain tahini, and we tried to keep the ingredients to things readily available for easier at home practice. This page does include affiliate links.

Making this recipe with your kids is also a great way to practice and model the /h/ sound! Stay tuned for more book-based recipes to bring to your next speech session or practice time at home.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (15.5oz) of garbanzo beans, do not drain.

  • 1/4 cup of olive oil

  • 1 tsp minced garlic

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (can sub apple cider vinegar or water in a pinch)

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional additions for new flavors: bell peppers, everything bagel seasoning, crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Open the can of garbanzo beans and pour into a food processor. You can also use a blender for this recipe.

  2. Add the olive oil and spices.

  3. Blend until smooth, and taste for more spice and to adjust for salt and pepper.

  4. When you are happy with the flavor, scoop it out and serve it in a bowl. You can add a bit of olive oil and sea salt or paprika to the top for presentation and flavor if you would like!
