This book is about a farmer’s trip to the market with all the things he and his family have gathered and made throughout the year on their farm.

This is a follow up book to Duck On A Bike, and is just as silly and entertaining. I love David Shannon’s illustrations!
A Crowded Farmhouse Folktale by Karen Rostoker-Gruber and Kristina Swarner
I love the illustration style in this book! From the first page I was interested, and this is a fun look at an overcrowded farmhouse and some silly solutions.
Picking Tea with Baba by Xu Bin, Illustrated by Yu Yin, Translated by Shan Chen
Follow along with a family as they journey into the mountains to pick tea, this is a different kind of farming than our other books, and I think that is part of what makes it such a great “on the farm” read. Get a better understanding of farming in another part of the world, and enjoy the beautiful illustrations.
Who Took the Farmer’s Hat by Joan L Nodset and Fritz Siebel
The animals on the farm answer the farmer as he asks if anyone has seen his hat. It ends up in the perfect place!

This is a short and simple story about a community garden, and is a great look at cleaning and utilizing a small space in a city for gardening/farming.

You’ll do a lot of learning about things that grow in a greenhouse or garden in this book, and it is such a fun look at a variety of vegetables to harvest!
Tales of the Dairy Godmother by Viola Butler and Ward Jenkins
This will give kids a look at all the hard work that goes into making ice cream, and the dynamic between the fairy godmother and Charles is hilarious.
